The Privacy Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how I collect and use the personal information you provide, and to assist you in making informed decisions when using the site. On 8/28/07 I was made aware of COPPA. So for now on you must be at least 13 years of age to become a member of this site. You may still vote, but websites that are collecting information from children under the age of thirteen are required to comply with Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). That means you need to be 13!

What Information Do I Collect?

When you visit the site there may be two types of information provided by you: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis, and web site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse the site. This information is either collected by myself, or advertisers who wish to know where their visitors are coming from.

When visiting this site voter information, and poll creation is tracked, and then deleted after a delayed time period automatically. What computer (IP address), where you came from (the referring domain that led you here if applicable), and what pages you visited on the site.

Email Information

If you choose to correspond with me through email, I may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and my responses. I will not add your email to my newsletter, nor use/post it on the site unless you specifically request it. SPAM sent to apopularitycontest.com is not a type of correspondence, and will be reported. Do not be surprised if I email you when you first join. I like to personally welcome my new members.

If you have joined my newsletter every message sent includes an easy one step process (you click on a link), and you will be removed from the database.

When you join the newsletter the action is logged with a unique identifier, including date and time.

Web Site Use Information

Similar to other commercial Web sites, this Web site utilizes a standard technology called "cookies" (see explanation below, "What Are Cookies?") and Web server logs to collect information about how the site is used. Information gathered through cookies and Web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent at the site, and the Web sites visited just before and just after my site.

What Are Cookies?

Sharing Information with Third Parties

The only information that will be available to third parties are the poll results. Results are already publicly available through this site. Your email information that you have submitted upon becoming a member or for joining the newsletter is to be used strictly just for that, and will not be sold or given to any other party. Your profile may be used to filter who may answer certain polls.
